Saw a plumber fix a leaky pipe with duct tape and it changed my whole approach to tool buying

Used to spend way too much on fancy tools. Got a $600 wrench set last year thinking it would make everything easier. Then my neighbor fixed his garbage disposal with a butter knife and a pair of needle nose pliers. Made me realize that for 90% of jobs, the skill matters way more than the brand name on the tool. I still buy decent stuff but I stop stressing about having the perfect one for every tiny task. Stuff like duct tape and a cheap multitool will get you through most problems if you know what you are doing.

Still find myself eyeing $200 pliers on Amazon knowing damn well I'll probably lose them in the bushes before the warranty expires lol @stella_baker’s neighbor sounds like a real MacGyver, makes me wonder what I've wasted my money on

Who has secretly bought something overpriced just to look the part? Guilty right here.
