Vent: I dropped $1,100 on a drum set to learn, and it's been a $1,100 dust collector for 14 months
Bought a used 5 piece kit off a guy in Rochester for $1,100 back in March. Practiced maybe 6 times total, and every time my downstairs neighbor banged on the ceiling within 10 minutes. Turns out you can't just want to be a drummer, you have to actually sit down and suck at it for months. If I'd rented a practice room for $15 an hour instead, I'd have spent $180 and known by now whether it was real. Anyone here eat a big purchase like this and did renting or lessons first actually save you?
Six times in 14 months is rough. The neighbor thing would've killed it for me too, that's the part most people don't think about. Renting a room first would've told you everything.
