Warning: I was dead wrong about meal prep kits after trying one for 2 weeks

My sister swore by HelloFresh for 5 months and I thought it was a waste of cash, but after my grocery bill hit $450 last month with half of it rotting in the fridge, I caved and now I'm actually saving $30 a week on food, so has anyone else been humbled by a service they mocked?

Like $450 with half rotting, yep I've been there. I had a box of cherry tomatoes I forgot about for two weeks and they turned into this weird science experiment with fuzz on them. My wife finally got me to try Home Chef because I'm picky about sauces and now I actually look forward to cooking instead of staring at the fridge feeling guilty. It's the small victories.

my grocery bill hit $450 with half of it rotting" - dude that was literally me last winter. I was the guy making fun of my buddy for using EveryPlate and now I'm three months in and can't believe how much less food I waste. The portion control alone saved me from throwing away bags of sad spinach every week.

Wait, you actually had cherry tomatoes turn into a science experiment? I had a bag of spinach that liquified in my fridge last month, just turned into this green sludge that smelled like death. The meal prep kit thing is wild because I used to think they were just for rich people who can't cook, but it's more like they are for people who are bad at planning, which is definitely me. The portion control thing is what got me too, I used to buy family size packs of ground beef because it seemed like a deal, then I would only use half of it and the rest would sit there until I had to toss it. My sister has been using HelloFresh for a while and kept telling me to try it, but I was too stubborn until I realized I was basically paying to throw food away. Now I feel like a fool for wasting so much money on groceries I never ate, at least the kits force me to actually cook the stuff before it goes bad.
