Appreciation post: I spent 3 hours trying to fix a $20 coffee maker before I gave up and bought a new one

My buddy did that with his lawnmower last summer. He spent a whole weekend taking it apart, watching videos, the whole deal. He finally got it running for about five minutes before it died for good. The look on his face when he dragged it to the curb was just pure defeat. Sometimes you just have to call it.

I see that same look on guys' faces at the curb every spring, @the_nina. It's like a whole season of giving up on small engines.

Oh man, that's the worst... when you put in all that work and it just teases you with a little sputter of hope. It's like the mower waited until it was back together just to give him the middle finger one last time.
