Appreciation post: the day I figured out I was overfilling my grocery cart on purpose

It hit me about 3 months ago at the Aldi on Elm Street. I was standing there staring at my cart packed with family size bags of chips and frozen pizzas. Total was $87 and I thought wait... I only came in for milk and eggs. Then it clicked. I was buying extra stuff because I felt like I had to get my money's worth from the trip. Like driving 10 minutes meant I needed a full cart to justify the gas. Now I just go in with a list and grab exactly what I need. My weekly bill dropped from like $120 to $75. Has anyone else caught themselves doing this?

Your total dropped because you quit impulse buying to cover a gas guilt trip.

$87 at Aldi is a whole different kind of pain - that's like buying a small appliance you don't need. @the_logan nailed it, gas guilt is basically the grocery industry's favorite trick.
