Bought a $30 phone mount for my car and it flew off the dashboard on the highway last Tuesday
Was driving home from work on 95 and hit a bump near exit 14, heard a loud smack, and watched my phone slide under the passenger seat while Google Maps kept yelling at me from the floorboard, so now Im back to holding my phone between my knees like its 2010 again has anyone found a cheap mount that actually stays put in the summer heat?

Honestly the scosche magnetic mount held mine through a Virginia summer.

Scoche is solid but the adhesive still gives up eventually in real heat. My vent mount from them lasted maybe 4 months before the clip cracked. Been using a cheap iOttie with the sticky gel pad instead and it's held through two summers now. The trick is wiping the dashboard down with alcohol first and letting it cure for a full day before sticking your phone on it. Also don't bother with the ones that go in the CD slot unless you still have a CD player lol.
