Bought a $40 'vintage' lamp off Facebook Marketplace - wiring was from 1952
Plugged it in and the cord literally started smoking after 5 minutes. Almost burned down my apartment. Has anyone else found a decent budget lamp that won't kill you?

Grabbed a solid metal floor lamp at Target for $30 and it's been fine for two years.
