Cheap shelf brackets that looked flimsy held 80 pounds after I tested them

I bought the dollar store brackets for my garage shelves in Phoenix and thought they would snap, but they held a full tool bin for 2 weeks now, has anyone else gambled on hardware that low and won?

Ha! My buddy slapped some cheap brackets on his shed shelves and loaded them with paint cans. Thing still stands, though I won't stand under it.
