Hot take: The dollar store bread hooks at the bakery counter are overrated

I was at the Aldi on Broad Street last Tuesday watching a woman fight for the last bag of those bread hooks for 10 minutes. She was convinced they save money but I timed myself using a regular grocery bag and it took maybe 8 seconds longer. I have been buying my bread loose for 3 years now and my budget is fine. Has anyone else stopped using those hooks without seeing a big difference?
