I finally switched to store brand trash bags after a decade of name brand loyalty

Picked up a box of 50 from Aldi for $4.99 figuring they'd tear apart on day one. They actually held up better than the Glad ones I've been using - no rips even with leftover rib bones from Saturday's dinner at the house. Anyone else find random store brands that are secretly better than the big names?

So how many uses do you think you'd actually get out of them before they finally give up? I've been testing that with cheap bags and some are way tougher than people give them credit for.

Are paper towels a fair comparison here? I used to be the same way about anything store brand, especially trash bags. I figured you get what you pay for and the cheap ones would just make a mess. But last year during a big cookout I ran out of Hefty bags and had to grab the Kroger brand at the last minute. They held up fine with all that greasy meat and bones from the ribs. Now I buy them every time and it saves me a good chunk of money over the year.

Wait til you try store brand cereal, same thing happened to me with the Aldi version of Frosted Flakes. My kid literally couldn't tell the difference and I saved like three bucks a box. But the real shocker was the trash bags from there, my mom always swore by Glad and actually laughed at me when I brought home a box of those Aldi ones. Then her name brand bag split on her during a big trash night and she had to borrow one of mine, next thing I know she's texting me asking where I got them. It's almost like the stores want us to think the expensive stuff is better just to keep spending money we don't have to.
