I went with the used Ryobi planer over the new DeWalt and honestly I think it was the right call

Picked up a Ryobi AP1301 off Facebook Marketplace for 60 bucks instead of spending 450 on a new DW735, and while it chews through stock a little slower, it has handled everything from pine to reclaimed oak without bogging down once in the last six months - has anyone else had good luck with beat-up gear from marketplace over shiny new stuff?

Is it really that deep though? People put money in the bank for lots of reasons, not just deep life priorities. Sometimes it's just easier than having cash lying around. Maybe they're saving up for a trip or a new couch, you know? Doesn't mean they're making some big statement about what matters most to them in life.
