Just saw a report that budget buyers spend 37% more time researching products than average shoppers
Found that stat in a consumer behavior study from the Journal of Marketing last week, and it honestly made me feel less crazy for spending two hours reading reviews on a $20 toaster.

I mean that 37% thing really got me thinking. I spent like an hour last week looking at replacement microwave filters online and it was like $12. My wife was like "just buy the damn thing" but I had to check if the reviews were real or if they were bots. I guess some of us just need to feel like we did our homework before handing over cash even for cheap stuff. Maybe it's just me but I feel like you get burned once on a bad buy and that sticks with you forever.

Oh man, @james_kim you are speaking my language. I've totally been there with the $12 item research spiral. It's like the smaller the purchase the harder I feel like I have to justify it or something. You get burned once on a fake review and suddenly you're checking every single five star rating for a microwave filter like it's a background check. I think it's a pretty normal thing honestly, like a little bit of control in a world where everything feels scammy. Does your wife ever give you a hard time about it or has she just accepted the process by now?
