Mixing my own laundry soap was a game-changer for my wallet
I got sick of shelling out for pricey detergent and found a DIY recipe online. It uses basic stuff like baking soda, washing soda, and a bar of soap (honestly, it's super cheap). After trying it, my laundry comes out fresh and clean. I'm saving around twenty bucks a month now, which adds up fast. My partner was hesitant at first, but they agree it's worth it.

My cousin Mark started mixing his own detergent and saved like thirty bucks a month. His towels even smell fresher than with the store stuff.

Seriously, I read a big warning about this on a home appliance site. They said homemade stuff can clog up the inner parts of your washer. That gunk is hard to clean and might wreck the pump. Saving twenty bucks now could cost you hundreds later for a repair call. It seems like a risky trade-off to me. I'll keep buying the cheap stuff meant for machines.

Thirty bucks a month like @hannah_davis said? That's way more than I save on takeout. Guess I need to look up that recipe.
