My neighbor the accountant made me feel dumb about my grocery budget
I was bragging to my neighbor Dave about how I only spend $60 a week on food for myself. He just laughed and showed me his spreadsheet. The guy tracks every single item he buys and compares it to the store price per ounce across three different stores. He saves like $30 a week just on chicken and eggs by buying at Aldi instead of Publix. Made me realize I've been lazy about where I shop, not just what I buy. Now I'm wondering if I should start a price book like he has. Has anyone here actually done that and found it worth the effort?

Totally worth it for me. I started a price book last year and it paid for itself in like a month just on chicken and cheese.

Does the price book tell you if cheese and chicken are worth fighting over, @elizabethn56?

I feel you on this, it's so easy to just grab stuff without thinking and then wonder where your money went. Elizabeth's right though, once you see how much you can save on the basics like chicken and cheese it kind of clicks in your head. Definitely worth starting small and seeing if it works for you before going all in like your neighbor.
