PSA: My $20 rice cooker gave up mid-boil last Tuesday

I was making jasmine rice for dinner and halfway through the cycle it just stopped heating. The rice was half cooked and stuck to the bottom. I ended up dumping it out and using a pot on the stove instead. For something that cheap, is it worth fixing or should I just replace it? Has anyone else had a budget appliance fail right when you needed it most?

I had the same thing happen with a cheap rice cooker a couple years back. Took the kettle apart and found the thermal fuse had blown, pretty common failure in budget ones. Replaced it for like 2 bucks at a electronics store and it worked fine for another year. Worth a shot if you've got a multimeter and five minutes, otherwise just grab a new one for 20 bucks.

Blew my mind the first time I fixed a toaster with a 50 cent fuse instead of tossing it. Did the exact same thing with a cheap coffee maker last year, thermal fuse was toast, ten minute fix. Now I keep a couple spare fuses in my toolbox just in case.
