PSA: Spent $200 on clearance paint vs $600 premium - here's what happened after 8 months in Phoenix sun

I painted my backyard fence with Behr and my front with Sherwin-Williams last March to test the difference. The Behr side already looks faded and chalky while the Sherwin-Williams still looks fresh as day one. People say it's all marketing but I'm seeing a real difference with my own eyes. Has anyone else put budget vs premium paint to a real test like this and seen similar results?

Gotta disagree here. I painted my shed with cheap Behr and my house with top shelf Sherwin Williams and both faded the same after two summers. Prep and how many coats you put on matters way more than the brand.

Oh man, this hits close to home! I literally just spent last weekend repainting my front door because the expensive "premium" stuff I used two years ago peeled right off. Meanwhile my neighbor used the cheap stuff from the hardware store on his fence and it still looks like day one. Prep work is the real MVP, nobody wants to admit it because sanding and cleaning sucks. But yeah, brands are just marketing hype at this point, the real trick is doing the boring stuff right.
