Question about those $20 electric kettles from the discount store
Bought one expecting it to fail in a month, but it's boiled water twice a day for over a year now... completely changed my view on where to cut corners. Anyone found a budget buy that actually lasted way longer than you thought?

Totally get that. I had the same thing happen with a cheap can opener from a dollar store. It looked flimsy as anything, but it's outlasted three fancy ones I bought before it. Makes you wonder how much we're really paying for the brand name. Sometimes the simple stuff just works.

Reminds me of my friend who bought a no-name blender for twenty bucks. It's still going strong five years later, @julia_carter70, while her expensive one died in months. Guess some things are just built to last.

Honestly I've had the total opposite luck. Every cheap thing I've bought like that has broken super fast. My kettle from a big box store lasted maybe six weeks.
