Shoutout to my buddy Frank who warned me about those cheap bamboo cutting boards
Frank told me last year that those $8 bamboo boards from the discount store would wreck my knives. I thought he was just being picky since I used one for 6 months with no issues. But last week I noticed my chef's knife felt dull after just a few slices. I checked the board and it had tiny cracks and splinters forming. Took it to a knife sharpener and he confirmed bamboo is way harder than wood and dulls blades faster. Now I'm out $40 for a decent acacia board plus a sharpening. Anyone else get tricked by cheap cutting boards?

Oh, that's a bummer, I've definitely been there with kitchen gear that looked good at first.

Nah, I actually think sometimes you get exactly what you pay for with kitchen gear, cheap stuff can fail at the worst possible moment. Haven't you ever had a budget tool mess up a whole meal?
