Shoutout to the $30 knockoff tool bag I got off a truck at a job site in Phoenix
I thought it would fall apart in a month, but it's held all my gear through two Arizona summers and a ton of rain. The guy selling them said 'it's the same factory, just no logo' and I guess he was right. Anyone else have a budget buy that just refuses to quit?

Are you sure you didn't just get lucky? My experience with that stuff is the exact opposite. I bought a similar no-name bag once and the zipper blew out in a week. That "same factory" line is a total sales pitch they all use. You're basically gambling and just happened to win this time. Spending a bit more on a known brand gives you a real warranty and proven materials, not just hope it holds up. That bag is a time bomb and your tools are gonna be in the dirt one day.

Honestly I check the stitching and hardware before buying anything now. Found a no name backpack with double stitched seams and YKK zippers for half the price of a brand name. Been using it daily for two years and it looks new. Sometimes you just gotta know what to look for instead of trusting the label.

That's a solid point from @jakeb25 about checking the actual build. The real trick is knowing the limits of that gear. A backpack with great zippers might still have weak fabric that tears. I had a cheap bag with perfect stitching, but the bottom panel wore through from setting it on concrete. You can inspect a bag all day, but you can't test how the materials age. Sometimes that brand name cost is for fabric tech and long-term wear testing, not just the logo.
