Shoutout to the cashier at Aldi who hooked me up with markdowns

Was grabbing some clearance snacks last Tuesday when the cashier saw me eyeing a dented box of granola bars. She scanned it half price without me even asking, saved me like $3.50. Anyone else have store workers just look out for you like that?

Oh man, that's awesome! My buddy had a similar thing happen at a local grocery store near me. He was buying a bunch of stuff for a party and the deli guy just gave him a whole extra pound of ham for free because it was almost closing time. Said something like "better it goes home with you than in the trash." The dude was just real chill about it, no big deal or anything. Makes you wonder how many other workers do that kind of stuff and we just don't notice, right?

I've had deli guys hook me up before too. One time I was buying a small amount of sliced roast beef late on a Sunday and the guy just piled on an extra quarter pound without saying anything. He just winked and handed it over. I didn't ask for it and he didn't make a big deal out of it. I think a lot of those workers see stuff that's about to get thrown away and figure why not give it to someone who's buying it anyway. It's a small thing but it makes a difference.

Used to be super skeptical about that kind of thing, thought it was just employees being nice for a reason. But then last month at Target, the cashier noticed my toddler was fussy and scanned a stuffed animal at half off for me. Totally changed how I see those little moments, they're just looking out for people.
