Showerthought: My cheap coffee maker just taught me a lesson about 'good enough'
My $25 drip machine from a big box store finally gave up last Tuesday after almost four years. It started leaking all over my counter during the morning rush. I was mad at first, thinking I needed to buy a fancy one. But then I did the math: that thing made me about 1,460 pots of coffee for less than two cents a brew. I just bought the same model again because, honestly, it did its job perfectly fine. Has anyone else had a budget item fail but still feel like you got your money's worth?

Totally get that feeling. My old beater car finally died last year but it ran for a decade with almost no repairs. Felt weirdly proud of it instead of mad. That coffee maker did its job and then some. Sometimes the cheap stuff outlasts its price tag by a mile. Makes you wonder why people spend hundreds on fancy things.

What's the longest a cheap thing has lasted for you, @miles144? My dad had this no-name toaster from a discount store that made toast for like 20 years. Meanwhile, my fancy blender with all the settings broke in two. It feels like some stuff is just built simple enough to never die. Makes you question the whole idea of "you get what you pay for.
