Vent: Those $30 'energy saving' outlet gaskets were a total waste

I bought a pack of 20 foam gaskets to put behind my wall outlets last winter, thinking they'd cut my heating bill. After 6 months, my electric bill didn't budge a penny, and the foam started crumbling after I pulled a plug out. Has anyone else tried these and actually seen a difference?

@elizabeth900 did you check if your outlets were actually drafty before installing them?

Oh man, I actually had the opposite experience with those. I put them in my old drafty apartment a couple years ago and my rooms felt noticeably less cold near the outlets. Maybe it's just me but I think they work better if you have really old walls or outlets that aren't flush with the drywall.
