Why does everyone think cheaper paper towels are always better

I keep seeing people in here brag about grabbing the store brand paper towels for $1 a roll, but they fall apart the second they touch water. I tested Bounty against the generic brand at my local Stop & Shop last month, and the Bounty roll lasted through 4 sink spills while the cheap one barely handled 1. Am I the only one who prefers spending a little more upfront instead of using half a roll every time I clean?

Are you talking about the actual thickness too? I feel like the cheap ones just smear the water around instead of actually soaking it up, so you end up using way more to get the same job done.

Wait, are you serious? I honestly had no idea people were skimping on napkin thickness like that. I mean, idk how that even makes it to the store if it's just gonna smear everything around. That's wild to me because I just assumed all napkins were kind of the same until you said that.
