Critique from a hostel owner changed how I pack for flights

A guy who runs a hostel in Lisbon told me I was wasting space by rolling clothes instead of using compression cubes. He said I could fit 3 extra days of stuff in the same carry-on. I tried it for a trip to Prague last month and he was right. I packed 5 shirts, 3 pants, and a jacket in a 20 liter bag. Now I won't go back to rolling. Anyone else got packing advice that actually saved you space?

Wow @julia_patel actually made that work? I can't believe folding flat beats cubes.

Saw a travel blog that said folding clothes flat and stacking them like papers saves more space than cubes or rolling. Tried it with my last trip to Berlin, fit a sweater and jeans in places I didn't think existed. Shocked how much room it freed up.
