Had to pick between a hostel in Lisbon or sleeping in the airport for a night

I landed in Lisbon at midnight after my flight got delayed 4 hours and I had a 6 AM connection the next morning. I figured paying $35 for a hostel bed just to shower and sleep for 4 hours felt like throwing money away, so I camped out near gate B12 with my backpack as a pillow. Would you guys have sprung for the room or toughed it out on those hard airport benches?

I did the same in Madrid and honestly that shower the next morning was worth every penny I saved.

Damn, I had a buddy who did something similar in Bangkok. He landed at 2 AM and decided to just crash in the airport food court instead of paying for a room. Woke up to a stray cat licking his face and some dude trying to sell him a fake watch. Ended up paying for a hostel the next morning anyway because he felt disgusting. So yeah, I'd say the $35 is probably worth it just to not smell like airport floor.
