Just realized my 'budget' hostel booking app cost me an extra two hours at the airport in Bangkok
I was so proud of myself for snagging a $12 dorm bed near Khao San Road through some new app. Landed at 11pm and the pickup shuttle they promised just never showed up. After waiting 45 minutes and calling three people who didn't speak English, I had to haggle with a taxi driver for 30 minutes. The app's fine print said the shuttle runs every hour but only until midnight, and I landed at 11 so it was already too late. Has anyone else had a booking website or app pull a fast one on timing like this?

Oh man, that's a classic. I once booked a "5 minute walk to the beach" that turned into a 45 minute hike through a construction site in flip-flops. Online maps are liars, I swear.

Hard disagree, @mary776. That 45 minute hike probably felt like an adventure. The maps are accurate, your expectations are the problem. I've had "10 minute walks" that took 15 because I stopped to look at a cool bird or a weird mailbox. The map isn't lying, it's just not accounting for my wandering. And flip flops in a construction site? That's on you, not Google.
