My $30 hostel in Bangkok had no hot water for 4 days and honestly it made the trip better
Booked a cheap hostel near Khao San Road back in 2019 because I was trying to stretch $600 across two weeks, and the hot water died on day two along with the ceiling fan. I ended up showering with a plastic bucket and cold tap water every morning, which sounds awful but got me out the door by 7am when the street food was cheapest and the temples were empty. Has anyone else had a budget place force them into a better travel routine, or am I just convincing myself the cold showers were worth it?
