My aunt told me to always pack a small towel and I thought she was nuts
She gave me a thin, quick-dry one before my first trip to Bangkok. I figured my hostel would have towels, so I almost left it. The hostel towels were $5 a day to rent, which would've been $35 for the week. I used hers every day and it dried overnight. Anyone have a better cheap towel brand, or a different small item that saved you cash?

Why even bother with a towel at all? Hostels usually have them for rent and it's just a few bucks. That extra space in your bag is way more valuable for stuff you'll actually use every day.

Honestly, that towel rental cost adds up fast.

My first trip to Europe I paid over 60 euros for towels in three different cities because I was too stubborn to pack one. I felt so dumb. That quick dry towel advice is solid gold. I still use a cheap one from Decathlon, it's held up for years.
