Overheard a guy at the airport say he books flights on a Tuesday at 2 AM

I was waiting for my flight last week in Denver and this guy next to me was telling his friend he always books flights on Tuesdays around 2 AM because airlines update their prices then. I got curious and tried it for my trip to Chicago next month. Ended up saving $120 on a round trip ticket compared to what I saw on Saturday. Now I set an alarm for Tuesday nights and just check before bed. Has anyone else noticed better deals at weird hours or is this just a fluke?

Wait which airline was it? I tried this with Delta and only saved like 30 bucks. Southwest was even less. Maybe it depends on the route or something.

park.robin you're right it really depends on the route and time of booking I think. I tried it with United on a cross country trip and saved almost a hundred bucks because I bought miles on sale first. But then I tried it for a short flight to Chicago and it was barely cheaper than just buying the ticket. The whole miles trick feels like a gamble sometimes.
