Stumbled on a free food tour in Lisbon that changed how I eat abroad
I was walking through the Time Out Market in Lisbon last month and a local guy just started handing out samples of grilled sardines. He said follow me if you want more. I tagged along for 45 minutes through 4 different stalls - got cod cakes, pastel de nata, and a glass of vinho verde. Not a single euro spent. Has anyone else found random free walking food tours in other cities?

Oh man, that is amazing! I had something really similar happen in Barcelona a few years back, a random guy near La Boqueria market offered to show me where the locals actually eat. He took me to this tiny bakery for pan con tomate and then a hole-in-the-wall place for jamon croquettes, totally free and hands down the best meal I had that whole trip. It's wild how being open to random stuff like that can totally change your travel game. I bet there are hidden gems like that in every city if you just follow the right person!
