The check-in guy in Lisbon saved me $80 on my night bus

Last month I was waiting for a FlixBus at Sete Rios and this older attendant saw me eyeing a snack shop, he pulled me aside and said 'the supermarket two blocks left sells the same stuff for half the price.' He also warned me the bus stops at a rest area where a sandwich runs 6 euros, so I stocked up and skipped it. Anyone else get money-saving tips from transit workers that beat every app you have?

That happened to me in Bangkok with a guy at the airport rail link. He told me to buy a local SIM at a 7-Eleven instead of the kiosk inside, saved me like 15 bucks. Then he pointed out that the express train was actually slower than the regular one if you factor in the walk, so I just rode the normal one for a fraction of the price. Those guys see hundreds of travelers a day, they know every trick.
