Tried booking a hostel in Lisbon through a random site instead of Hostelworld and saved $14 a night

I always use Hostelworld for everything but last week I got curious and checked Booking.com for the same place in Lisbon. The room was exactly the same but $14 cheaper per night and I felt kinda dumb for not looking around sooner. Has anyone else found better deals just by checking two or three different booking sites?

Think about it though you saved what $14? That's like two beers in Lisbon. I usually just stick with one site because the time spent checking everywhere else is not really worth it to me. Plus I always worry about getting some random booking mistake or hidden fees popping up later.

You ever get hit with a random "reservation error" email at 2am though? That's the risk. I always cross-check but book through the site with the best cancellation policy. Saved $14 is good but peace of mind matters more. Hostelworld's kinda become the default but they take a cut. Booking.com has better filters for private rooms. Just screenshot the final price before paying so you catch any hidden fees later.
