Used to book flights at 3am thinking I'd get a deal, now I just set a price alert on Google Flights
Last year I woke up at 3am three nights in a row to book a trip to Portland, Oregon, convinced that was the secret window for cheap tickets. Turns out I just got sleep deprived and paid $40 more than my friend who booked at noon the same day. Now I just set a price alert on Google Flights and wait - saved $120 on a flight to Denver last month that way. Anyone else fall for that "book at midnight" myth?

Ha! I actually still swear by the 3am thing, I've scored some crazy cheap flights that way by pure luck so I'll keep doing it til it stops working. Those price alerts are great but sometimes they miss the flash sales that pop up in the middle of the night.

Respectfully disagree, the algorithm catches those flash sales faster than random browsing does.
