Why does every budget travel blog swear by hostel dorms but never mention the snoring

I booked a 12-bed dorm in Prague for $18 a night and got zero sleep because some guy sounded like a chainsaw. How are you all actually managing to rest in these places without earplugs that cost more than the bed?

Right?! I had a guy in Barcelona who snored so loud I could hear him through my noise cancelling earbuds on full blast.

Ha! @reesemiller hit it right on the head, but I'm the guy who brings earplugs and still ends up listening to a symphony of snoring like it's a free ASMR track.
