A cashier's comment made me look back at my whole budget journey

I was at the grocery store in Portland last Thursday and the cashier saw my coupon binder, said 'wow, you really plan ahead.' It got me thinking about 5 years ago when I used to just swipe my card and pray. Now I have a $50 weekly food budget and I actually track every dollar in a notebook my grandma gave me. Has anyone else had a random stranger make them realize how far they've come?
