Appreciation post: My neighbor was right about meal planning

I used to roll my eyes when my neighbor Karen kept telling me to meal plan. She'd go on about saving $50 a week if I just sat down for 20 minutes on Sunday. I finally tried it back in January after my credit card bill hit $600 just from eating out. I sat down with a notebook, picked three dinners for the week, and went to Aldi instead of the regular grocery store. My first week I spent $85 instead of the usual $150 plus takeout. It's been 2 months now and I've actually stuck with it, which is insane for me. Has anyone else had a simple tip from a friend that actually worked way better than you expected?

I used to roll my eyes when my neighbor Karen" man, that hit close to home. I read some article online about how meal planning actually rewires your brain to make better food choices and stop impulse buys. I was so skeptical but now I'm a full convert, saving like $40 a week and actually eating leftovers instead of trashing them.
