Bought a $30 rice cooker from a thrift store and it's been a game changer

I picked up a basic Zojirushi rice cooker at a Goodwill for $30 a few weeks ago. I used to burn rice in pots all the time and waste money on takeout. Since getting it, I've stopped ordering delivery for asian dishes and actually cook rice twice a week. Has anyone else found a used appliance that saved them cash?

Oh man, I feel this so hard! I bought a janky bread maker at a garage sale for like $10 and I was so proud until I realized I have no idea how to make bread and now it just takes up counter space. At least your rice cooker actually works for you! I've wasted more money on "bargain" appliances that just sit there looking at me judging my cooking skills. Seriously though, a good rice cooker is basically a cheat code for eating homemade meals without the stress.

Wait, am I the only one who thinks a $30 thrift store rice cooker isn't really saving you that much money? Sure, you're not burning rice anymore but how much rice were you really wasting before? Like a dollar's worth of rice a week tops. And now you're cooking twice a week which means you're probably eating more rice than you used to, so you're buying more of it. Plus that Zojirushi is gonna crap out on you in a year because it's secondhand and beat up, then you'll be out $30 and back to burning rice in a pot. Not exactly a game changer if you ask me.
