Got told my grocery budget was 'delusional' by a cashier in Austin

She pointed out I was buying name-brand stuff when the store brand was literally next to it for $1.50 less. Swapped to generic for canned goods and pasta, knocked $40 off my weekly bill. Anyone else had a stranger just drop some truth on them like that?

My grocery budget is delusional too but in the opposite direction... I've convinced myself buying the expensive stuff makes me cook better but that's just not true at all. One time a lady in line behind me watched me grab pre-made pie crusts and just sighed real loud while shaking her head. I swapped to homemade that weekend and yeah I burned the first two but the third one was actually edible. Now I just pretend the cashier didn't see me with my overpriced yogurt every week...

A cashier actually called me out for buying pre-shredded cheese once. She was like "you know thats just cheese with sawdust basically" and walked me to the block cheese that was like half the price. Saved me a good chunk of change but now I feel judged every time I buy the shredded stuff for convenience.
