Heard a guy at the checkout line talk about his energy audit

I was at the grocery store last week and this older dude in front of me was telling the cashier he got a free energy audit from our local utility company. He said they gave him a box of LED bulbs and a new showerhead right there on the spot. I always thought audits cost money and were a hassle, but he said it took 20 minutes and already cut his power bill by $22 last month. Has anyone else tried one of these free audits through their power company?

Oh come on, $22 off one bill from a 20 minute visit and some light bulbs? I'd need to see a few months of bills before I buy that story.

My electric company did a similar audit and knocked $18 off my monthly bill after switching me to LED bulbs and a programmable thermostat. Saved me over $200 across the year, so it checked out for me.
