My brother in law swore his "envelope system" would fix my budget issues
He told me after 3 months I'd stop overspending if I used cash envelopes for groceries, gas, and fun money. Instead I just ended up with a bunch of torn envelopes and zero appetite for tracking every dollar like a detective. Did anyone actually make that system work long term or did you just cave and go back to a spreadsheet?

Ugh the envelope system is such a pain. I tried it for like two weeks and gave up because I hated carrying cash around. Honestly a simple spreadsheet works way better for me.

Ngl the spreadsheet thing stops working when you forget to update it for three days.
