My grocery bill was a mystery for way too long

I used to just grab stuff and hope for the best at checkout. Then last month, my partner asked me how much we actually spent on food, and I had no clue. I started writing down every single thing I bought for two weeks. Seeing it all on paper was a shock, especially the $75 just on snacks and drinks. Now I use a basic app to track it, and we're saving about $60 a week. Anyone else get a wake-up call from just writing things down?

Honestly, it's just groceries though. Like, we all need to eat. I get wanting to save money, but tracking every single item sounds like a lot of work for maybe a small win. Life's too short to stress over a snack budget.

You said it's a small win, but what if it's not small for some people? When money is tight, a few dollars here and there on snacks adds up fast. For someone trying to make rent or pay off debt, that "small win" is their whole budget. Isn't it kind of easy to call it not a big deal when it might not be your situation? The stress of being broke is way worse than the stress of tracking a list.

But what if that small win is the difference between making rent or not, like @skyler_thomas said?
