My neighbor's garage sale find made me rethink my whole grocery plan

I was helping my neighbor, Carol, set up her garage sale last Saturday and saw she had a small whiteboard priced at two dollars. She told me she uses it to track her weekly food budget and writes down every single thing she buys, which keeps her under $75 a week for her family of three. I tried it this week and it actually stopped me from buying extra snacks at Target. Has anyone else tried a visual tracker like this for their food money?

That whiteboard trick is a total game changer for impulse buys!

Totally agree about the whiteboard trick being a game changer. It makes me realize how much of our spending is just stuff we see and want right that second. Putting a physical barrier, even a small one like writing it down, forces a pause. I've noticed this works for online shopping too, just leaving stuff in the cart for a day. It's all about breaking that automatic "see it, want it, buy it" loop we get stuck in.

Totally works for me too. I write it down and suddenly realize I've wanted three different things that day that I'd forget about by tomorrow. Usually ends up staying on the board until I erase it. That 24 hour cart rule saves me so much money.
