My sister's 30 day no eating out rule was right after all

She texted me on January 2nd saying I was spending way too much on lunch at the deli near my office in Austin. I got defensive, said it was only $9 a day. She made me add it up for the month and it came to $198. So I did her rule, packed a sandwich and fruit for 30 days. Grocery bill went up maybe $35 but I put $130 into my car fund. Her exact words were 'you are paying for convenience, not food'. Now I pack 3 days a week and eat out Fridays only. Has anyone else had a relative call them out and it actually stick?

Man, that hit home. Did you actually track how much time you saved by eating out those other days, or was it purely about the money?
