Overheard a neighbor's trick for cutting their water bill in half

I was at the laundromat on Elm Street and the guy next to me was telling his friend he got his bill down from $80 to $40 a month... just by putting a brick in his toilet tank. He said it uses less water per flush. I tried it in my old apartment toilet and it actually worked, saved about $15 last cycle. Has anyone else tried simple hacks like that for utility bills?

Yeah, the brick thing is a classic. It's wild how many old systems have these little fixes built in that nobody talks about.

My grandpa's 1970s furnace had a hidden reset button behind the access panel.

That brick trick works in the old tank toilets for sure.
