Pro tip: I realized my 'emergency fund' was just a forgotten checking account

I found a statement for an old account with $1,200 in it, which I'd been treating as a buffer but never actually budgeting around. Now I have a real plan for it. Anyone else have a similar 'found money' story?

Ever find cash in the weirdest places? I once found a crumpled ten in an old takeout menu, which felt like a reward for not cleaning. My version of @lucas_bell's jeans find was pulling a five dollar bill from a library book I returned two years late. The late fee was more than the five, so past me was basically playing a prank. I'm just glad my old accounts don't charge me for forgetting them.
