Shoutout to my old jar of spare change

I see people still think a budget needs a fancy app or spreadsheet. My jar of coins from 2018 finally got cashed in for $127, which covered a whole grocery trip. What's your simplest money win that others might think is too small?

A podcast I listened to on the drive to work last week actually talked about this. They called it "inertia saving" where you just let coins and random cash pile up without thinking about it. The host said most people underestimate how much those little bits add up because we treat coins like pocket junk not like MONEY. Your $127 grocery trip is PROOF that ignoring spare change can still pay off. It's basically free money that you already earned but forgot about. Honestly that jar is way more effective than any app that tries to guilt me into saving.

That "jar of coins" method is real. I kept a big water jug for loose bills and change for two years. Cashed it out last fall and it was over $300. Paid my car insurance in full. People act like you need some complex system, but just not spending the physical cash in your pocket works.

Wait, is that why my wallet is always empty? I tried this but my jar is just full of old receipts and lint, @carr.brooke.
