That 'quick' 401k rollover took 5 weeks and 9 phone calls

I switched jobs in March and thought moving my old 401k to my new plan would be a simple form. The first check got mailed to my old address, then the second one was voided because I signed it wrong. Is this normal or did I just hit a bad luck streak with my provider?

Honestly, you probably got off easy, most people end up with way more than 9 calls and a lost check in the mail when they're moving money around. The whole system is built to make you jump through hoops on purpose, it's basically a test of how badly you actually want that cash in your new account. At least you got it done before the end of the year, so now you can just laugh about all the time you wasted instead of stressing over it.
