Walked through the clearance aisle at Walmart and noticed something strange

I went to Walmart last week to grab some cheap paper towels and ended up wandering down the clearance aisle like I always do. Usually it's full of random holiday stuff and weird flavored snacks nobody bought. But this time I saw a ton of store brand canned goods and basic cleaning supplies marked down. It got me thinking that maybe people are buying less of the expensive name brand stuff and sticking to what's cheap. That clearance pile was bigger than I've seen in a while. Made me wonder if more folks are tightening their budgets and skipping the fancy labels. Has anyone else noticed their local store's clearance section looking different lately?

Bet it's overstock from people switching to bulk stores instead.

@the_charlie might be right, I've seen the same deal at my local store and grabbed a few for freezing.

Saw a news report saying grocery prices are up 25% since last year, explains the clearance pileup.
