Finally settled the great pen debate in my own journal

I've been using a basic black gel pen for years, but my friend gave me a set of those fancy brush pens for my birthday. I had to pick between sticking with my fast, simple system or slowing down to try the new colorful one. I chose to use the brush pen just for my monthly cover page, keeping the rest of my daily logs with the old pen. It worked out great because my journal feels special now but I didn't lose any speed for my actual tasks. Has anyone else found a good middle ground like this with their tools?

My bullet journal got way more fun when I started using a red pen just for headers.

Yeah, the "sacred system" thing hits home. I used to have this perfect notebook setup for grocery lists, but then my kid drew a dinosaur over two pages with a permanent marker. Kinda broke the spell and now I just use my phone like everyone else.
