My trusty journal fell apart on me mid-migration yesterday

I have been using the same Leuchtturm1917 dotted notebook for over a year. Yesterday I went to flip to a new monthly spread and the spine just cracked and pages started falling out in chunks. I had to tape about 20 pages back in with packing tape just to finish my weekly review. Has anyone else had a premium notebook fail like that after heavy use?

A year of heavy use is a lot to ask from any notebook, honestly. Those Leuchtturms are nice but they're not built like tanks. The glue in the spine is going to give out when you're constantly flexing it open and pressing it flat to write. I've had Moleskines do the same thing after about 8 months of daily carrying. It's just the nature of that type of binding, you know? Maybe try a spiral bound next time if you're really hard on your journals. Or one of those discbound systems, those hold up way better for heavy use.

I've had a Leuchtturm last 14 months straight without any spine issues.
